- Google Lens improves search results
- Improved compatibility with other Google applications
The four recently announced updates will be of interest to you if you use Google Chrome on your iPhone. Google Lens search, online purchasing, and interactions with Google Maps, Drive, and Photos are all being improved.
First, Google Lens has been upgraded, as detailed in the official Google blog post. Using a picture from your gallery or camera, you can already perform Google Lens searches within Chrome for iOS by tapping the search box and then the Google Lens icon. The latest update allows you to further refine those searches by adding more text.
For instance, if you're looking at a picture of a sweatshirt, you may spell out a colour to focus the search results. Or perhaps you want to add some text enquiring where in the world a location is in a picture of it that is displayed on the screen.
Second, a brand-new tool called Shopping Insights is currently exclusive to US users. In Chrome, you will notice a "good deal now" notification in the address bar, which is a small blue and white icon, if you are seeing a product that Google knows is discounted online. To view the product's pricing history over time, tap the icon.
The integration of Chrome for iOS with other Google services is enhanced by the other modifications made here. To avoid taking up space on your iPhone, you can now save files and photographs to Google Drive or Google photographs. Simply tap the Google Drive option when saving a file, or long-press an image to select Google Photos from the pop-up menu.
